Blues Boss Maresca Dismisses Manchester City Links as Pure Rumour
Chelsea gaffer Enzo Maresca has branded recent reports linking him with a move to Manchester City as "100% speculation".
The Italian manager, who previously worked as Pep Guardiola's right-hand man in Manchester, responded to the persistent speculation surrounding his next move.
Maresca, named Chelsea boss in the summer of 2024, is under contract that runs until 2029, with a potential extension option.
"It doesn't affect me at all because I know that is 100% speculation," Maresca said. "And at this moment, there is no time for these kind of things."
He further elaborated, Primarily, because I have a contract here for several more years. And my focus, I said many times, is solely on this club and I'm honoured to be here. But again, it's rumour. One week ago I was connected to a role in Italy with Juventus. So I ignore it because I know that is without foundation."
Chelsea, currently sitting fourth in the top flight, are scheduled to face Newcastle United on Saturday in a 12:30 GMT fixture.
Tensions Following Previous Remarks
Maresca's most recent statement come in the wake of he described a recent 48-hour period as his most difficult since joining Chelsea.
Those initial remarks had sparked considerable talk of a potential disagreement between the manager and the club's key decision-makers.
When pressed if he had since spoken with the club's leadership, Maresca replied, "We are in the same building, so we talk about different things. But about the Everton media session, no."
The Italian did confirm he would definitely remain at the club for the coming campaign and called on supporters to keep backing the team".
In more positive news, Maresca indicated that sidelined forwards Liam Delap and Estevao Willian could return sooner than expected, possibly available for a match against Aston Villa later this month.

The perceived strain between Maresca and the Chelsea board persists as an unhealed issue that still cause concern.
While there has been no deepening of the matter in the open, there has also been no apology forthcoming, creating the matter unaddressed.
