An extensive 60-day cruise circling the Land Down Under has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an senior lady who was abandoned by the ship on a isolated island.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the group for a rest. The ship left without her and returned later that day after the ship staff became aware the passenger was missing.

An extensive search operation found her remains the next day.

Authorities are investigating the tragedy, in coordination with law enforcement and the official investigator.
